Artist's Comments

Now that I've got a better blacklight to take a picture under, here's a new photo of the scarab on the back of my hand. Again, with this ink on my pasty skin you can't see this under normal light.

EDIT: I put up a comparison shot for the tattoo under a normal light in the house as well so you can see that it doesn't show. :)

Very well done and a perfect tattoo for the top of the hand.

Is this harder to do when it's this kind of ink? I've seen it on skin and it's true, the paler you are the less it shows so was it harder to follow the lines?

I do it with the blacklight both on and off. While laying in the basic outline I keep the light off (it's not all that hard to know that you're following the stencil) I turn it on every now and then to make sure its good. I do the rest of it, building the line work and shading strictly with the blacklight on since I have the bass to work from.

gr8 tattoo but i herd that in this plase it dosn't last

Well, I've had it for a year and it hasn't faded under the light one bit, plus if it does it's my own tattoo work so I can touch it up myself. :) For some people it fades on the back of the hand, but I stay out of the sun and I'm not too rough on my left hand.

i was told uv clear has had in the past a tendancy to go biege ish? how have you found it? also that because of the way it refracts uv light the skin above has a hightened risk of skin cancer from sundamage. do you get sunburn more on the area tattooed?

That was an issue they found with the old glow in the dark ink. I read up on it before deciding what type to buy. This kind of ink has been FDA approved for 11 years and has been used in animals for numerous years before it was put into human consumption and it hasn't had this problem on record. I've had this one on my hand for a year and if I recall correctly that was around the length of time it took for a color change and I haven't noticed anything different. Sorry to say that I don't know if it sunburns, I'm pasty as hell so I stay out of the sun lest my skin audibly sizzle when the light shines on it :) I can ask John as his heals, he's a trucker and thats his normal arm that he sticks out the window.

so u did know how to keep it right that's good

Very nice! That's the best blacklight tat I've ever seen. All the other's I've seen have turned out SO crappy, I guess b/c you can't see it very well while you're working on it.
