This is the place where you can personalize your profile!
But, how?
By moving, adding and personalizing modules.
You can drag and and drop to rearrange.
You can edit modules to customize them.
The left side has modules you can add!
Some modules you can only access when you get a subscription.
Some modules have options that are only available when you get a subscription.
We've split the page into zones!
Certain modules can only be added to certain zones.
"Why," you ask? Because we want profile pages to have freedom of customization, but also to have some consistency. This way, when anyone visits a deviant, they know they can always find the art in the top left, and personal info in the top right.
Don't forget, restraints can bring out the creativity in you!
Now go forth and astound us all with your devious profiles!
So I'm finally in Seattle now, just got settled in to my apartment even though I'm waiting on a few more boxes of stuff to come in. I have a bunch of artwork I did before graduating to add to my gallery here that I just haven't gotten around to, but I haven't really done anything new besides that what with the cross country move and all. I'm really liking the area around here already, cloudy, rainy, but with ridiculously mild weather. I've been so busy filling out my apartment that I haven't had much of a chance to explore the city yet, but I'll get around to it when I have the chance.
As for the job market, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I snag something good, and I'll keep everyone updated as it goes.
It's been okay, getting into the industry is a pain in the ass and sometimes makes me wonder if it's even worth it. Right now I'm in the process of opening my own small business to contract out for graphic design and illustration and such, since it looked like the only position that I was being groomed for is a 3d modeler, and we all know that isn't my thing.
I've been doing freelance design stuff here and I honestly really like doing it, 2d is kind of my thing and I would much rather stick to what I like doing than torture myself having to do 3d every day.
Same here lol. I've been thinking about openening a small business for portrait illustrations or something similar to it because I really can't find anything in the industry and no one is giving me a chance so yeah...3d modeler would not be fun whatsoever. The only thing I've been doing is working on Night of the Living Dead: Reanimated but it's fun. The only job offer I got was for selling CutCo knives O.o ..could you imagine me doing that??
Oh my god you're waaay too quiet to be a salesman for anything but your own visual art, but that really sells itself
The thing I've noticed about the industry in the concept field that bugs me the most is each company is looking for people who already have that company's own style of stuff in their portfolio, and then means overhauling your portfolio for every job attempt, which is just insane. Even if you have kick ass stuff but it's of a different genre they get all "well can they do stuff like what we do?" and rather than give an art test to find out they generally go with the one who already does it their way. Granted this is from talking to one of my buddies in the industry, so I'm hearing a bit of the inside perspective on why they make the choices they do, but nonetheless it makes it feel so futile to have to redo everything in there each time a job pops up only to come around too late :/
Lol yeah I know. Overhauling portfolios each time is quite ridiculous, just need a little luck I guess? I just hope something turns up soon/I can get started with something else that involves art.. jobs at best buy don't tickle my fancy. I'm starting to get jaded with this industry.
